Are you interested in a mid-facelift procedure? Here’s what you should know about what to expect during and following your cosmetic mid-facelift.
Why choose a mid-facelift?
Loss of tissue fullness around your nose and mouth leave the lines in those areas looking deeper. Over the years, fat from your cheeks tends to accumulate and droop, forming jowls and aging your appearance. During a mid-facelift, Dr. Douglas targets your cheeks and the other areas in the middle region of your face where you tend to lose fullness with age.
With a customized mid-facelift procedure, you can achieve great anti-aging results. For patients who aren’t ready for a full facelift, the mid-facelift provides a minimally-invasive alternative. People as young as their 30s and 40s have found improved self-confidence through mid-facelifts.
About the mid-facelift procedure
Before your mid-facelift procedure, we provide general or local anesthesia to keep you comfortable during your treatment. Dr. Douglas makes small incisions behind your ear. If possible, he tries to hide the incision behind your hairline, to minimize visible scarring.
Using specialized tools, he reaches through the incisions to carefully lift and reposition the malar pad of fat closer to your cheekbones. This change restores lost fullness to your cheeks, and effectively improves the appearance of your jawline and jowls at the same time.
For older patients, Dr. Douglas can also combine your mid-facelift with an eyelid rejuvenation and dermal fillers to complete your anti-aging treatment.
Compared to a traditional facelift, the mid-facelift is less invasive. You’ll still need to take some downtime following treatment, however. Minor swelling and bruising should fade after a few days, and you can typically return to work after about 10 days. Wait at least a few weeks before going all-out on vigorous activity and exercise, to allow for full healing and the most lasting results from your mid-facelift.
