Dr. Douglas treated me at his Beverly Hills, CA Clinic.
He is a brilliant Angel of Mercy who heads an excellent team! It is because of his work on my TED impacted eyes that I was able to get back to my writing; finish my PhD, and start to pick up the pieces of my interrupted life.
When I found out I had Graves disease (as it turned out, undiagnosed for almost 2 decades and therefore debilitating), I looked everywhere for solutions. At the time, I had stopped writing, reading; in fact, using the computer had become altogether impossible due to excruciating pain, double vision, eye rigidity, and a host of other problems. In fact, the bottom had literary fallen off my professional and personal world, and it looked likely to everyone but me that I would not complete my PhD at all. I initially worked with two local ophthalmic clinics while I researched and contacted TED specialists around the country, asking to be taken into their practice as a patient. I was also searching for solutions to minimize the disfiguring effects of TED. Seeing my continued adamance, doctors, family, and friends were telling me that eye damage from TED was most often permanent; and that I needed to accept my “new self” so as to adjust my life expectations to a realistic level.
Six months into the search, I wrote a tentative email to Dr. Douglas’ Beverly Hills office. From that moment on, I was enveloped by affirmative, thoughtful, and superlative professionalism that restored my hope in the ability of my body to heal under the right care.
During my initial consultation, Dr. Douglas was receptive of my opinions, and he explored the pros and cons of different treatment options with me before efficiently establishing a framework for the direction that we mutually agreed upon.
To top his brilliance, Dr. Douglas is the kindest, gentlest doctor you will ever meet; soft spoken, and completely down to earth.
An important consideration for me as an African woman was the possibility of keloid scarring in case I underwent surgery, since surgery is common for TED patients. I have two keloid scars from prior experiences in other parts of my body. This time, I wanted to be sure that I worked with a doctor who knew what to do about African skin, given the importance of the eye area. During my search, Dr. Douglas was the only surgeon in his field to deliberatively convey his extensive knowledge about special considerations he makes for the different types of skins. African, Asian, and Caucasian skins differ in strengths and challenges. For example, one of his innovative techniques prevents even the possibility of keloid scarring, something that in my experience many surgeons and dermatologists are only marginally aware of without having any real solutions.
Another thing about Dr. Douglas’ practice is that they have taken the time to render educational materials easily accessible. From Peer reviewed papers to learning modules and shared personal stories on social media; the team is dedicated to bringing the message of their mission of healing to the global public and even to local doctors. As a result of this comprehensive information dissemination approach, when I brought it up with my own local ophthalmologist that I had found Dr. Douglas and was in the onboarding process at his Beverly Hills Office; in spite of the 2,500 mile distance; my local doctor thoroughly approved of the choice I had made, since he was already very familiar with Dr. Douglas’ work.
Anyone suffering with TED, those in need of oculoplastic surgery or other work that is in Dr. Douglas’ purview will be glad they chose him. I am grateful to have found him and attribute the completion of one of my most important life goals to his work.
Dr. Douglas is truly the BEST in the business!! He successfully performed bilateral decompression and upper and lower lid construction in one single surgery for me in Nov 2019. I had previously been told by surgeons this would need to be at least 2-3 surgeries over the course of a year. Thanks to Dr Douglas I’m finally feeling like myself again after dealing with a severe case of Thyroid Eye Disease for the past 3 years! I can’t say enough about my extremely positive experience with him from beginning to end and I would HIGHLY recommend him!!
I could not recommend Dr. Douglas more highly! I was diagnosed with Graves Disease and Thyroid Eye Disease almost 2 years ago. I was lucky enough to participate in the Teprotumumab clinical trial for patients with TED that Dr. Douglas was involved with. His knowledge and experience with TED is impressive. I had seen a couple of doctors prior to seeing him and neither of them possessed the knowledge and confidence for the treatment of TED that that he did. I actually felt hopeless after leaving their offices, but after I left Dr. Douglas’ office I knew I was going to get through this with positive results. The trial drug helped me so much, but I did require minor surgery after the trial was finished. Dr. Douglas made me look like myself again! His work far exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t be happier! I finally feel like myself again. I also need to mention his bedside manner. Dr. Douglas understands what his patients are going through and the hopelessness and isolation that is associated with TED. That meant as much to me as his knowledge, as I was going through one of the worst times of my life and no one seemed to fully acknowledge or understand my struggle. Thank you Dr. Douglas! Thank you for caring and for all the wonderful work you do for people who are in need of your expertise.
Specific to my case, Dr. Raymond Douglas is a miracle worker. I had suffered Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) for 10 years. Symptoms included eyes pushed out of their sockets, constant eye pain, embarrassment, extreme light sensitivity and red red red eyes!!! At the time I discovered Dr. Douglas on YouTube, I had endured 5 surgeries to correct the effects of TED. The results were minimal at best. Dr. Douglas could immediately see my extreme needs. He fast-tracked me into surgery. Moved my eyes back to their rightful position. And erased all of the trauma of dealing with TED. I now look as I did 10 years ago prior to the onset of this auto immune. The loving care of Dr. Douglas and his excellent staff will forever be etched in my heart as a miracle far beyond my hopes and dreams.
Dr. Douglas is amazing! Prior to my husband’s surgery, I had become a member of a few fb blogs about people with TED. I had nightmares from what I was reading. My husband has TED, and Dr. Douglas is top notch!! My husband’s surgeries were performed with excellence. My husband looks as good as he did before TED came into our life, and no scars to see. I would highly recommend Dr. Douglas for ANY procedures!! He is courteous, caring and extremely professional. In our opinion, the absolute best in his field. We came all the way from Missouri for Dr. Douglas to treat my husband.
Thanks so very much for helping me with such a complex and much-needed surgery this last week. As you know, it has been a very long road with the Graves’ Disease, TED and the multiple surgeries that I hoped would bring relief. I have no doubt that you have helped me in a substantial way that, in fact, makes clear that I have finally found the help that I have needed for so many years. Everything about you, your office and staff and the surgery has been perfect for me in every way.
Three months ago I underwent orbital decompression, a very intense surgery to push my eyes back in the eye socket. My eyes were bulgy and painful. I am very happy I took the courage to do it and immensely grateful that not only my eye appearance is back to normal but that I don’t feel uncomfortable and in pain. I am taking the courage to share this with you because I want to support all the people with Graves’ disease and autoimmune disease and tell them that there is HOPE for all of you and things get better eventually. Accept this disease and be patient with yourself, be kind to yourself… Thank you, Dr. Douglas, Dr. Massry and your amazing team for giving me my eyes back!

On the day of my appointment, upon arrival I was greeted by the office staff in a professional manner. Dr. Douglas took his time to explain what my procedure would entail, and made sure he answered all of my questions. I immediately could tell that Dr. Douglas is well-experienced and highly skilled. I felt very comfortable with him, and I left the office with a positive impression. I highly recommend.
My wife having Graves disease has had a really bad experience in Miami in the best Eye Institution for the area. She had a ptosis done in her left eye and the result was a dropping eyelid. She went back to complain and the doctor recommended dropping the other eyelid to match. Incredible he wanted to change one bad procedure into two. So after that she went to the Internet and God directed her to Doctor Douglas. We met him on Skype and the experience was a blessing. Right away my wife and I knew that we had found the best man to do her Decompression surgery. Dr. Douglas just put you at ease and his confidence and his abilities where you knew everything was going to be alright again. Being from out of state we were told that our insurance was not going to cover. My wife after finding her miracle worker was shot down but Dr. Douglas’s staff was immediately on the job finding a way where this surgery would get done. Likewise the Doctor’s staff gave you the same assurance you felt when you met the Doctor. Long story short everything worked out we were covered and on our way to the promise land. Having the best Doctor in his field and supported by a great staff we felt that there was no way anything could go wrong. The surgery was a great success and the results was seen one hour after in recovery. One day after her eyes were six millimeters back in their normal position. My wife is so happy and I am so blessed to see her back to being happy and her old self again.
We have been seeing Dr. Douglas since January. We traveled from Missouri to Beverly Hills to have Dr. Douglas treat my husband. He is an expert in treating Thyroid Eye Disease. This is the first time we have had a physician who was so attentive to our needs. He takes the time to listen and explain. He is very caring. He texted several times a day to check up on my husband after surgery. He gave me his personal cell phone number to contact him if we had any concerns. We have never experienced such one on one personal contact and care from the physician himself. His office staff was great and extremely helpful as well. I would recommend Dr. Douglas to anyone who is experiencing complications of Thyroid Eye Disease. You wont find a better physician!!
